"Our goal is to ensure all patients of remote areas receives high-quality and effective treatment," says Dong Jiahong (China), a pioneer in the treatment of echinococcosis, Dean of the Tsinghua University School of Clinical Medicine and President of Beijing Tsinghua Changgung Hospital.

For over a decade, Dong has led his team on more than 30 missions and over 500 surgeries in high-altitude areas , such as Qinghai and Tibet, in order to combat the parasitic disease echinococcosis. He has broken technical barriers in precision liver treatment, becoming the first in the world to successfully perform a novel approach to liver resection and auto-transplantation outside the body.
