June 4th --- the world's leading medical health, life sciences and high-performance materials technology company Merck group (Merck KGaA) held a "Merck China Science and Technology Innovation Luncheon" in Beijing, the event has invited a number of prominent entrepreneurs, scientists and investors in the field of medicine and cutting-edge technology. During the meeting, the board members of Merck group and invitees discussed the challenges and opportunities faced by China and the global innovation ecology.

 
Sheng Ding, dean of the SPS of Tsinghua University, was invited to deliver a keynote speech entitled “How Academic Research Drives Drug innovation”. The meeting also held the "Appointment Ceremony of the SPS Advisory Board ", Dr. Ding issued the employment letter for Stefan Oschmann, chairman and CEO of Merck group and formally invited him to join the SPS Advisory Board.
 
The participation of Stefan Oschmann is an important step in the School's blueprint for expanding international relations. He will provide more guidance and support to the development of SPS, not only contribute to become the first-class drug discovery institute, and more dedicated to fulfill the shared vision of Merck and SPS - promoting the development of innovative drugs and treatments, addressing major disease challenges, and ultimately contributing to improve human health.
